Cost Engineering Training Course in Malaysia

Cost Engineering provides training courses all over the world. From May 21-23 Ko des Bouvrie and Stefan Bakker travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to conduct a training course named Cost Estimation Methodologies Throughout The Life Cycle For Oil & Gas Projects. The course was organized by UniStrategic in the Royale Chulan hotel, a perfect venue for a training course with a typical Malaysian atmosphere.

In this great atmosphere an enthusiastic group of people was eager to learn more about the cost engineering profession and the methodologies to estimate oil & gas projects. Coming from different countries (Malaysia, Singapore, UAE, Vietnam, etc.) and backgrounds, participants had valuable discussions on their practical experiences allowing to learn also a lot from eachother. From factor estimating to detail level estimating, each participant went home with a better insight into the principles of cost engineering (and of course a certificate!) at the end of the course.

Part of the training course was a session about cost estimating software tools and how they could be applied to enhance the cost engineering process by making more accurate and faster cost estimates. This was also an excellent opportunity to provide some practical examples of the learned theory. Things like different cost types, factor estimating with the help of cost models, and getting better project insights by analysis methodologies gave participants a good understanding of the value of estimating tools.

We can conclude that the training course was a great success. Given the need for knowledge about cost engineering in the South-East Asian region, we expect it won't be the last time we will travel to this beautiful location!
